Welcome to Cave
Hollow Equipment Company (a division of
Freddie Richmond Company) – located in
Dalton, Georgia. We have been supplying the
carpet and rug industry with unique products
for more than 40 years. We are the largest
supplier of tassels and fringes for rugs in
the world.
Through out our
40+ years in business, we have built all of
our own equipment, and as the carpet and rug
industry has changed, so has our machinery.
Through out the 1980s and mid 1990s, the
demand for machine knotted fringe was
insatiable. To meet this demand, we totally
redesigned our self knotting fringe machines
to increase their production, and we also
engineered the machines to run more
efficiently.
The end result of our efforts is the highly
efficient and versatile machines that we
sell worldwide. With simple modifications,
these machines are capable of producing 6
different and distinct styles of fringe. We
hold the patent for these machines. |

In early 2007,
we introduced the “Rug Maker.” The rug
maker is a loom that is entirely different
from any loom that has ever been built. The
rug maker has many distinct features. As
the machine weaves, both sides of the
material are finished – meaning that
finishing steps such as binding and serging
are eliminated. There is no selvedge to
trim and throw away. The rugs produced on
the Rug Maker are reversible – there
is no need to apply a backing to the rug.
In less than one minute, the operator can
change material, and he can begin weaving
rugs from a totally different material.
Multiple yarn types as well as deniers can
be used to produce a rug. For example, we
have used (3) ends of 2.65/2 wool, (2) ends
of 3.25/2 nylon, and 2 ends of 6/2 rayon.
All these yarns were used at the same time
to create depth, texture, character and
color variations in the rug.
The machine can be altered to weave material
as narrow as desired The rug maker can
weave a rug in 2 minutes that requires a
hand weaver more than 2 hours to complete.
The rug maker can weave any type of
material. We have woven shag rugs, sisal,
jute, polyester, olefin, bamboo – if it can
be wound on a cone, the rug maker can weave
it.
The versatility
of this machine is limitless. For example,
you have purchased 6 rug makers designed to
weave woven rug material 6 feet wide. You
receive a large order for rugs that are 4
feet wide. Your machinery can be reset to
this new width, and in less than an hour,
you will be weaving material that is 4 feet
in width. As the width decreases, the rate
of production increases, since the “stroke”
of the machine is shortened. The sides of
the material are finished and clean, even
though the width of the material has been
reduced by a third. The Rug Maker is
available in widths up to 12’ (15’ is
available by custom order.
Please examine our
product photos, and you
will see why are products are so unique and
versatile.
